Mobile is the only entertainment medium that presently does not subsidise content with advertising. Thanks to the work of a number of companies this is set to change. AdMob have mirrored the online model of interfacing content owners with advertiser’s ad offering a revenue share on click throughs. It is estimated that the platform served 150 million ads in nine months. Startups Amobee, Rhythm New Media and Actionality are all working to subsidise premium game content with peppered advertising. We don’t have any stats on their business model to date.
