The mobile games industry in a bullish mood

The global mobile games market represented about €1.6 billion in 2007, according to a research from market watcher Screen Digest. That represents 45.6 per cents of the global mobile content revenues (about €3.5 billion for games, music, video…). It is nowadays the biggest part of the content industry. For Screen Digest, this market will be allowed to increased of 62 per cents in four years’ time, up to €2.6 billion .

Only in USA revenues from games mobile reach €536 million followed by Western Europe with €450 million.

According to Javier Ferreira, Vice president of European publishing at EA Mobile says: “There seems to be a lot of anxiety in mobile games but the fact is we are a really successful industry, we are the second largest content category in terms of usage behind ringtones and Europ alone saw 100 million paid downloads in 2007. For me that’s taken the industry beyond niche and into the mass market.

The new platforms available and those forthcoming bring optimism among the mobile games industry.
